LG G Stylo phablet supports microSD card up to 2 TB

South Korean smartphone maker LG has yet to announce its flagship offering, the LG G4, but the company will still be catering to the middle smartphone market with the announcement of its G Stylo smartphone. The G Stylo happens to be a phablet-sized smartphone (5.7 inches) that renders a 720p display. Since the model name of the smartphone includes the word "Stylo," it no doubt means that it will feature a detachable stylus with its own repertoire of gestures and functions. While the handset features mid-ranged hardware specifications, the one notable thing about it is its ability to expand its storage up to 2 TB via microSD card.

Additionally, the G Stylo also features a Snapdragon 410 SoC, running a low clock frequency of 1.2 GHz. It is also assimilated with 1.5 GB of RAM, 8 GB of on-board storage, and is equipped with the following:

  • 8 MP rear camera
  • 5 MP front camera
  • LTE Cat 4 modem
  • Bluetooth 4.1
  • 3,000 mAh battery

Even though the LG G Stylo is targeted toward the mid-range smartphone market, it still possesses an expensive price tag of $460. Furthermore, there are no microSD cards available that provides a storage capacity of 2 TB. Just recently, SanDisk managed to unveil a microSD card that boasts 200 GB of storage. The card will be available for purchase in the second quarter of this year, but it, too, will feature an exorbitant price tag of $400. Adding up the costs of both the G Stylo and SanDisk's 200 GB storage card totals to a ridiculously expensive purchase, which is something that will not play along nicely with the budget of thousands of consumers.

Regardless, the G Stylo is going to be available in South Korea, and depending on its performance there, LG will decide if it is worth the trouble of being shipped out to the western markets.
