LG flip phone? New leaks show new LG phone in the works

LG has shifted majority of its focus to the higher tier market in order to transform its upcoming flagship device, the G4 in to one of the best performing smartphones of 2015. While the G4 is expected to be in a league of its own, there are other projects that the company is being speculated to be working on. Thanks to @upleaks, a leak related to a smart flip phone has been pinned directly on the company, stating that LG might be gearing up to provide more than just its flagship offering.

This is not the first time that the tech company is rumored to be working on a flip phone. LG introduced its LG Ice Cream back in 2008. Equipped with a rudimentary operating system and mediocre specifications, ranging from a 2.2 inch screen size with a 240 x 320 pixel display combined with a rear 3.15-megapixel camera, the phone was targeted to the Chinese market.

LG topped that by later introducing another similar device which the company called the LG Wine Smart. The device was launched back in September, and featured an app called Kakao, which is an unfamiliar multiplatform text messaging app. It also possessed a screen size of 3.5 inches and radiated a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. In addition, the Wine Smart also possessed a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with an 8-megapixel rear and VGA front camera. The flip phone was also equipped with an LTE modem, 1 GB of RAM, a 1,700 mAh battery and 4 GB of internal memory that is expandable to 32 GB via a microSD slot.

If LG is currently working on a new flip phone, then improved hardware specifications will not come as a surprise. However, the alleged phone will most likely be targeted only to the Chinese market since the U.S. market has not yet developed an affinity for flip phones.
