Apple will be raising the bar with its upcoming smartphone duo, named iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. With the release of the iPhone 6S duo, the tech giant plans on bringing in a new platform of both performance and energy efficiency in a single smartphone package. Starting off with the chipset, both upcoming handsets are expected to feature Apple's A9 SoC, which is undoubtedly going to be manufactured under Samsung's superior 14 nm FinFET process. The smaller lithographic architecture will allow A9 to deliver far better performance compared to A8X, which is present inside iPad Air 2.

Up next is the Force Touch tech. According to an analyst named Ming-Chi Kuo, who is currently employed at a firm named KGI Securities, has stated that both smartphones will feature the Force Touch tech, which allows the display of the mobile device to determine how hard the user is pressing it, in order to execute different functions according to the amount of force being exerted on the screen. Additionally, both mobile devices are also going to feature 2 GB of LPDD4 memory, and a rear 12 MP rear camera.

While details on which firm is going to mass produce camera sensors for Apple were not stated, it is possible that Sony has struck a deal with the Cupertino tech giant, since the Japanese company is the only one that can move around a large volume of camera sensors globally, which accounts for its high market share. In order to prevent a bombardment of negative reviews surrounding Apple 'bendgate', the iPhone 6S duo will feature a stronger material called Series 7000 aluminum. With this material, the chassis of the devices will be up to 60 percent stronger compared to the previous material used.

As for the operating system, both next-generation products will most likely be running iOS 9 out of the box. iOS 9 will be focused on performance improvements and battery efficiency, rather than having additional features present in it. Mass production of the iPhone 6S duo will commence in August, with the devices being announced in between September and October 2015.
