iPhone 6C release date, specs rumors: Apple working on a 4 inch iPhone

Thanks to Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the company's previous smartphone duo, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are slowly becoming less and less popular. However, that is not preventing the Cupertino tech giant from working on releasing another 4 inch handset in the future. According to Digitimes, sources close to the company have claimed that Apple is expected to release a 4 inch smartphone that is going to be called iPhone 6C. Additionally, the tech giant is also rumored to be working on an iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Given below are the form of displays that are rumored to be present in the company's future iPhones, along with the companies that will be providing them.

The source has also stated that the 4 inch device will be incorporated with Apple's A8 chipset while the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be fitted with the A9 SoC, which is said to run on Samsung's 14 nm FinFET process. While all three handsets will also be equipped with an NFC chip, individuals close to the company have not leaked whether the chip will be limited to use for making payments through Apple Pay or used for additional tasks.

All three iPhones will be running Apple's iOS 9 update, which is going to be more focused on providing a fluid and smoother operating system experience rather than possessing a ton of features. Given below are the manufacturing companies rumored to be working on the upcoming iPhones.

  • iPhone 6C: Wistron
  • iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6S: Foxconn Electronics and Pegatron

As for the release date of the mobile products, Apple will be eyeing the same period, when it released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which was during the month of September.
