When the Taiwanese smartphone maker unveiled its One M9 at the MWC 2015 alongside Samsung's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, tech fans believed that the company was done with releasing high-end smartphones for the remainder of the year. Now, the latest leak shows that the company is working on another high-end device, named the HTC One M9 Plus.

5.2 inch QHD display and many more features

According to @Onleaks, the One M9 Plus will possess a slightly larger frame compared to the One M9; a 5.2 inch screen size compared to the latter. In addition, the latest leak also reveals that the upcoming device will be radiating with 1440p resolution, which will be far denser than the 1080p resolution present on the 5 inch screen size of the One M9. Though content on the One M9 Plus will be much crispier and vibrant compared to its smaller screen brother, higher resolutions do have an adverse effect on the overall battery life, considering that the One M9 Plus is expected to sport the same 2,840 mAh battery pack as the One M9.

As for the design, HTC is looking to remain constant between its two flagship offerings. The dimensions of the One M9 Plus have been detailed below:

  • Length: 5.94 inches (150.9 mm)
  • Width: 2.85 inches (72.5 mm)
  • Depth: 0.4 inches (10.15 mm)

There is still some speculation concerning the One M9 Plus' chipset. While rumors are leaning towards Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC, the smartphone might end up possessing a powerful unnamed MediaTek chipset that will be housing an octa-core processor.

As for the remainder of the specifications, the One M9 Plus is expected to ship out possessing 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory (with an option to expand storage up to 128 GB) and a 20.7 megapixel camera that has the capability of shooting 4K videos at a steady frame rate of 30 FPS. Additionally, the One M9 Plus will also feature a 4 megapixel front camera sensor, an 802.11 ac wireless adapter and an LTE Category 6 modem (300 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream).

HTC has not given word on when it plans to release the One M9 Plus but consumers who are looking to get their hands on a larger variant of the company's offering should keep an eye out for Q3, 2015.
