HTC One M9 Windows Phone aimed at U.S. market

Taiwanese phone maker HTC will be unveiling its new lineup of smartphones during its press event on March 1, a day before the MWC 2015 officially commences. The two devices that are rumored to be brought into the spotlight are none other than the allegedd One M9 and One M9 Plus, which have been given the codenames Hima and Hima Ultra, respectively.

While the two aforementioned smartphones are said to run Google's Lollipop 5.0 update, the phone maker is also rumored to roll out a One M9 that will be running Microsoft's Windows platform. Similar to the company's One M8 smartphone that runs the Windows Mobile operating system, HTC will also be releasing the successor of its Windows Phone variant. However, according to tipster @upleaks, the unveiling of the smartphone will not be taking place at the 2015 Mobile World Congress.

This is because HTC's upcoming smartphone is expected to sport Microsoft's upcoming Windows 10 operating system, which is going to be released later this year. However, even if the company does manage to announce the Windows 10 version of its flagship smartphone, the company will only be targeting the geographical boundaries of the United States.

As for the hardware specifications of the device, the Windows Mobile variant is likely to be equipped with the same internals as theAndroid version of the One M9. The smartphone will reportedly be armed with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled with 3 GB of RAM. In addition, it is possible that the upcoming device will also boast a 20.7-megapixel rear camera along with a 4-megapixel shooter on the front side of the chassis.

With all the improvements that Microsoft will be making in its upcoming operating system, it might end up delivering a much more fluid experience compared to Google's Lollipop update, which will be to the delight of HTC fans who prefer using Windows on their devices.
