'Frozen 2' plot rumors: Sequel to feature fire-based villain

Elsa from Disney's Frozen Walt Disney Animation Studios

"Frozen" is one of Disney's most successful films in the company's entire history and it comes as no surprise that they are moving forward with a sequel scheduled for 2018. Very little information about "Frozen 2" has been released but according to VineReport, the film might set the characters against a new fire-wielding villain and will be LGBT-friendly.

According to the report, there are rumors and fan speculations that the film will introduce a villain that can control fire and would therefore be a direct foil against Elsa's (Idina Menzel) ice-based powers. There is no mention of where this villain comes from or what he or she might want with the main characters.

Yibada, meanwhile, states the possible return of Prince Hans (Santino Fontana), who must now prove he is a changed man. The plot of "Frozen 2" will reportedly be similar in some ways to "The Wizard of Oz" in that the characters will undergo drastic changes as they try to reach their goals.

While Anna (Kristen Bell) ended up with Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) by the end of the first film, Queen Elsa remained single. Crossmap cites that "Frozen 2" will be LGBT-friendly and even speculates that the queen might be lesbian. However, there are no confirmations regarding this, from any of the cast members or from Disney.

No official release date has been announced, but Disney has only one animated film currently scheduled for 2018, which is still unrevealed at the time of writing, and there is a very high chance that this film could be "Frozen 2." This unknown film is currently slated for Nov. 21, 2018.

It is interesting to note that "Frozen" was released on Nov. 27, 2013 so the Nov. 21 release date could indicate that Disney plans on following the same release schedule to replicate the first film's success. This is still open for debate as "Frozen 2" will face different competitors at the time of its release.
