The 2004 American comedy film titled "Barbershop 2: Back in Business" will be getting a sequel that has currently been named "Barbershop 3." According to Deadline, Malcolm D. Lee will be directing the upcoming movie and both Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer are expected to reprise their roles from the first two films. Lee has previously spearheaded "Scary Movie 5," "Soul Men" and "Undercover Brother," displaying that his caliber to direct movies related to the comedy genre is significantly high.

Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver have been hired to write the film. However, apart from Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer, it is unclear who else will be joining the duo in completing the ensemble cast. The upcoming movie is not expected to appear until 2016, which creates a 12 year gap between the second film and "Barbershop 3."

The original 2002 Barbershop film has its plot focused on Calvin Palmer, Jr. (Ice Cube), who inherits his father's and grandfather's barbershop. Initially he is partially interested in the job, which causes him to lose it as the first film progresses. However, towards the end of the movie, he is able to gain it back and in the process, learns a valuable lesson.

The film ended up being financially successful, bringing in $77 million worldwide on a meagre $12 million budget. The success of the first movie allowed a sequel title "Barbershop 2: Back in Business," to be released along with a spinoff called "Beauty Shop," which featured Queen Latifah's hairstylist character from "Barbershop 2." The latter was released in 2005.

At this point, the director, writers and two actors might be confirmed, but there is still a huge time frame remaining for the film to be released. During that time frame, additional leaks will most likely be revealed as the film draws nearer to its official release date.
