The American superhero film that is scheduled to be released on July 17 this year has had its first ever trailer released. However, the trailer of Marvel's upcoming "Ant-Man" movie, which debuted on Tuesday, received mixed responses from viewers. Some felt let down by the two minute clip, while others were impressed with Paul Rudd's muscular physique as he plays Scott Lang, a burglar who eventually becomes the superhero known as Ant-Man.

Regardless, making immediate conclusions just from viewing a trailer does not make it a fair critique, even though "Ant-Man" has had a series of mishaps along the road. The film's original director Edgar Wright walked away from the project, leaving the path of the movie directionless for a while. The project was picked up by Peyton Reed (director of "Bring It On"), and since then, "Ant-Man" has chartered a new course.

The trailer involves acting veteran Michael Douglas, who plays the character Hank Pym. Hank Pym eventually becomes Scott Lang's mentor after he convinces the burglar to take up the mantle of Ant-Man. The trailer also showcases Ant-Man's primary antagonist, Darren Cross, who eventually assumes the identity of Yellowjacket and, in the process, becomes the superhero's nemesis. Darren Cross is portrayed by Corey Stroll, known for his role as Congressman Peter Russo in Netflix's original series "House of Cards."

Evangeline Lilly assumes the role of Hope Van Dyne and, as far as the storyline of the original series goes, Van Dyne eventually becomes the Wasp.  Lilly is known for playing the role of Tauriel in the second and third "The Hobbit" movies as well as for playing Kate Austen in "Lost."

While majority of the trailer is filled with a boatload of action, it also tones down the mood right in the end when Scott Lang questions Hank Pym: "Is too late to change the name?"
