HTC One M7 and One M8 owners who have been anxiously waiting to try out the new "material design" of Google's latest operating system update, Lollipop 5.0, will be greatly disappointed to hear that HTC has delayed the update from being officially rolled out to the company's smartphones. HTC stated on Friday that its current and previous generation flagship smartphones were supposed to receive the update by Feb. 1 but due to the delay, users are still going to have to get by using Google's KitKat update.

Mo Versi, HTC's vice president for product management, gave the announcement through a post in the company's website. Part of the post reads:

"We've been working hard in the labs with Google and our carrier partners ever since the code release and are making great progress so far, but if you've been following the progress of this rollout you will know that Google has had to address several issues with this release. We've been diligently working to fix some of them on our end and incorporating Google's fixes as quickly as possible, but despite everyone's best efforts some carrier versions of the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) will not meet our 90 day goal, which is February 1st."

The company was forced to delay the update due to the number of issues that are still plaguing Lollipop 5.0. There are several perks of using the new update when it comes to improved performance, a better notification system and better memory management, but Google is going to have to come out with a lot more updates if it is going to start polishing up the remnants that are causing issues in the first place.

The Taiwanese smartphone maker is not the only tech firm that has noticed the abundant number of issues plaguing Lollipop 5.0. Lenovo-owned Motorola has also detailed out some common issues that users continue to experience with their smartphones.

HTC has not confirmed which Lollipop update will be arriving for it handsets. With the Lollipop 5.0.2 update already rolled out for the Nexus lineup of mobile devices, it would make sense for the company to allow its devices to be updated to Lollipop 5.0 and afterwards, release the remainder of the updates in quick succession.
