'X-Men: Apocalypse' movie cast rumors, spoilers: Sophie Turner, Saoirse Ronan, Tye Sheridan being considered

Sophie Turner, who is best known for playing Sansa Stark in the fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones," is reportedly being considered for the role of young Jean Grey in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

Other than Turner, Saoirse Ronan is also said to be a contender for the role, according to Hollywood news site Latino Review. Ronan's previous movies include "The Lovely Bones," "Hanna" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel."

During the previous timeline of "X-Men," Jean Grey sacrificed herself in order to help the other mutants escape. In "X-Men 3: The Last Stand," she transformed to her alternate but powerful form, the Phoenix. Famke Janssen portrayed the older version of the mutant with red hair and telekinetic abilities, and now, a younger version is being sought to appear in the upcoming "X-Men" installment.

Latino Review reported that apart from the two aforementioned actresses, Alexandra Shipp and Zendaya Coleman are also being considered for "X-Men: Apocalypse" as a younger Storm. Shipp appeared in "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B" and will soon be seen in "Straight Outta Compton." Coleman, on the other hand, has "Shake It Up" and "K.C Undercover" on her resume. It remains to be seen who can best take Halle Berry's role, who has portrayed Storm in the previous "X-Men" films.

Meanwhile, Taron Edgerton ("Kingsman"), Jamie Blackley ("If I Stay") and Tye Sheridan ("Mud") are reportedly going to be tested for the part of Cyclops. James Marsden previously played the older version of the character.

"X-Men: Apocalypse's" timeline is set in the 1980s where James McAvoy returns as the younger Charles Xavier. Having survived the events of the 2014 blockbuster, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," the professor with the telekinetic abilities will assemble a new team once more in order to take on a greater threat.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is expected in cinemas by May 2016. The movie's primary antagonist will be none other than Apocalypse, who will be played by Oscar Isaac.
