When Ben Seewald and Jessa Duggar first met, he feared he was 'too young', she worried she was 'too old'

Now isn't this sweet: When they first met, Ben and Jessa Seewald from 19 Kids and Counting actually tried to hide their true ages from each other, with Ben fearing that he was "too young" for Jessa while Jessa thought that Ben might be turned off because she was "too old."

In the Seewald Family Blog, Ben wrote that even before he met his wife, he liked to grow facial hair because it would make him look older and more manly. Because he had a huge crush on Jessa, when they first met he decided not to reveal his age (he was 17 going on 18) while Jessa was 20.

"I didn't want her to write me off as a possibility just because she thought I was too young. I wanted her to truly get to know me first and then I would reveal my age," he explained. "Well, Jessa has a lot of siblings, and so eventually someone asked me and I let on."

But it was okay by that point. Ben later found out that when Jessa heard how young he was, she didn't want him to know her true age either because she didn't want him to write her off as being too old or out of his age group.

The more Ben and Jessa got to know each other, the more they realised that they get along really well and so they began a courtship. They courted for 11 months before Ben proposed, and the two got married on November 1, 2014.

Now, the happy couple are expecting their first child, who is due the same date as their wedding anniversary. Ben and Jessa's child will be the sixth Duggar grandbaby for Jim Bob and Michelle, who just this year welcomed the first son of Jessa's sister Jill and her husband Derick Dillard, little baby Israel David.
