Samsung Project Valley specs: smartphone dual, foldable screen

After the release of Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge, devices which both feature Samsung's curved edge display tech, the South Korean smartphone giant plans on taking its display technology to a whole new stratum. The firm plans on accomplishing this through Project Valley, a venture where Samsung will be attempting to release smartphones that feature dual screens that can be folded like a book. Samsung is expected to roll out these displays by 2016, according to an earlier report.

Project Valley, or Project V is in the early stages of development, according to a report published by Sam Mobile. The last time Samsung stumbled upon an ambitious project, it allowed the tech giant to release the most powerful and equally decorated Android smartphones of 2015 (Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were placed under Project Zero). In addition to mass producing 14 nm FinFET chips, which will be succeeded by the company's 10 nm FinFET process, Samsung's forte also lies in display technology, which is rivaled only by LG.

Coming back to Project Valley, the smartphone will support multiple gestures that will allow the user to switch between the two screens. According to the tech website, the very first initial 'V' in Valley is used because the letter depicts how the device will be folded together. While nothing has actually been confirmed by Samsung, the company is slated to roll out foldable smartphones by 2016, so it is a huge possibility that smartphones placed under this project will boast the aforementioned features.

At the same time, the tech might also be used in television sets, where users could control the functionality of the large screen displays using hand gestures. An exact timeframe has not been stated by the South Korean company so additional updates will be provided as soon as Samsung makes the announcement public.
