After Samsung introduced its Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge; devices which possess the edge to edge display, the South Korean phone giant's next plan will be to release foldable smartphones. With the release of its current flagship offerings, Samsung was finally able to discard the inexpensive plastic chassis of its Galaxy series and incorporated a premium design to its handsets. While edge to edge and curved displays are yet to popularize amongst smartphone users, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S7 might just possess a foldable smartphone screen.

Currently, Samsung and LG happen to be the only two companies who have a formidable hold on the display market. Both firms are currently immersed in research and implementation of improved display tech that will feature a lethal combination of improved display quality coupled with innovative elements. Samsung has indulged itself in to foldable display tech for quite some now because the company first showcased that particular technology offering at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014.

Additionally, further evidence that the smartphone giant will be looking to incorporate a foldable display in its upcoming device is a statement given by an official from Samsung Display. Business Korea reported the individual stating that:

"The industry believes that the commercialization of foldable smartphones will be possible in 2016."

Samsung's rival, LG will also be looking to roll out devices sporting that display tech. The company unveiled its G Flex 2 at the Consumer Electronics Show that kicked off in January 2015. The tech firm has also been able to garner sufficient amount of financial success thanks to the spike in sales caused by the South Korean's G3 smartphone. LG will be looking to create a re-run of its success with the release of its upcoming flagship smartphone, G4.

More information on smartphone giants working on foldable smartphones will be published as 2015 reaches its finishing months.
