The latest survival horror title belonging to the 'Resident Evil' franchise, "Resident Evil Revelations 2" has brought about improvements for the PS4 platform through the release of a new patch. According to Eurogamer, which has released statistical data concerning the performance difference before and after the installation of the patch, frame rate has not only been stabilized, but has also improved by 10-15 percent on Sony's next generation console.

According to the website, prior to the installation of the latest patch, the PS4's frame rate went as low as 27 FPS, all the while dropping 25.8 percent of the total number of frames during some parts of the game. After the installation of the patch, the frame rate is consistently above the 30 FPS threshold, and is only dropping 11.7 percent of the total number of frames rendered. Xbox console owners had a better tale to tell because Eurogamer has reported that Microsoft's console is able to deliver a fluid gaming experience with a 44 FPS record, with 5.7 percent of the total frames dropping.

Currently, PS4 console owners are still experiencing performance issues in areas where there is dense amount of vegetation. Capcom has not stated whether or not it will release future patches to alleviate these issues. According to the data compiled by the website, it appears that poor optimization by Capcom's game developing crew has resulted in these issues, because a PC comprising up of a Core-i5 3570K desktop processor coupled with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 780 GPU was not able to deliver 60 FPS at the 1440p resolution.

"Resident Evil Revelations 2" is set between the events of "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6." Players take control of Claire Redfield while occasionally switching between another character named Moira for a tactical advantage and different form of immersion.
