Michelle Duggar from "19 Kids and Counting" feels greatly honoured to be Jim Bob's wife because he is such a great and loving dad to all of their 19 children.

"These past 27 years, I have witnessed Jim Bob Duggar demonstrate love to his children in many ways!" Michelle wrote on the Duggar Family Blog. The doting wife then elaborated on the five reasons why Jim Bob makes such a great dad.

The first reason is that he loves his children by having a learning spirit, and desiring to become the best dad that he can be. "When he lacks wisdom in what to do, he goes to the best Father for advice, our Heavenly Father," she said. "He asks God to give him an understanding heart toward each of his children, because he truly wants to know where they are coming from and to lead them in the way that they should go."

There are times when Jim Bob makes mistakes and even snaps at his family, but in the end, he will humble himself before the Lord and ask forgiveness from those he have wronged.

The second reason is that he works hard to provide for his children's needs, and he also prepares for their futures. He has done many jobs, some simultaneously, just to make ends meet, said Michelle, and he has also taught his children how to work hard as well.

The third reason is that he restrains his children's sinful behaviour by teaching them that true freedom is doing what is right before God regardless of what others, or even their own flesh, may want to do.

Next reason is that he has become their spiritual servant and leader by showing them that his personal relationship with God is his greatest priority in life.

"He believes that each of his children is a gift, given to him, from God, and he treats them with respect," she said. "As they walk through good and bad days they know that their Dad finds great joy in them and it is an honour for him to help and encourage them."

Lastly, he enjoys having fun with his kids. Jim Bob plays with them and does all the things that they love—riding bikes, playing broom ball, camping, traveling, or doing something that is of interest to each of his children individually.

"He often sets aside his own plans to be available for his children, and he does this willingly with joy not making them feel that they are an "interruption" in his life, but his children know that they are the joy of his life," she said.
