Wii U owners are excited after new rumors emerged claiming that two gaming titles could be launched for the Wii U platform soon: "Mario Kart 9" and "The Legend of Zelda."

However, as yet, the rumors are exactly that - just rumors! Nothing official has been released about the launches, and so fans of the games would do well to take the latest reports with a pinch of salt.

If launched, "Mario Kart 9" for Wii U would be the next title in the "Mario Kart" series, and would be the second one available for the Wii U platform. As far as gameplay elements are concerned, rumors claim that the game will possess everything present in the previous "Mario Kart" titles. However, the added bonus features that rumors have claimed will be included in the new game will be a Story Mode, a Mario Kart Shop, and DLC.

Its predecessor, "Mario Kart 8," was slammed as the second worst title in the history of the entire franchise. However, according to TIME, the Japanese video game maker was able to rake in $132 million in revenue, and thanks to the additional sales count of "Mario Kart 8," the Wii U was also able to record its best sales week.

As for "The Legend of Zelda," the 18th installment coming from Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda" series, is rumored to potentially release some time in 2015. Those unconfirmed reports also claim that the title will an open world environment, allowing players to conjure up different tactics and approaches in order to complete different quests.

According to the game's designer Eiji Aonuma, the open world environment will deliver more freedom to gamers as they will be able to decide different ways on how to reach their desired destination. In addition, gamers will also be traverse the environment by foot or by using Link's AI controlled horse, Epona.
