LG G4 specs rumors: Display with 3K resolution to be featured in new flagship?

LG introduced the quad HD display into its current flagship smartphone, the G3, exceeding the total number of pixels on a 1080p resolution. Quad HD renders 2560 x 1440 pixels, which is the same number of pixels on high-end monitors. Now, the company seems to be aiming to top that by giving its upcoming flagship device a display with 3K resolution.

My LG Phones posted a leaked document of a smartphone with model number LG-VS999 (which indicates that it will belong to mobile carrier Verizon), deemed to be the G4. While the size of the display is not mentioned on the document, what is present is a metric that resembles the resolution of a 3K display — 2880 x 1620 pixels.

Unfortunately, while the image quality and content viewing experience are augmented on these high resolution displays, incorporating it to mobile devices will put added strain on batteries, leading to a faster depletion of battery life. However, LG seems to be unmoved by these concerns. If the 3K resolution does end up on the company's upcoming flagship smartphone, then it is most likely that LG would incorporate a large battery in order to prevent rapid battery depletion.

Similar to the company's G Flex 2, it is expected that the G4 will possess a form factor of 5.5 inches and it will also be incorporated with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset. Furthermore, the G4 is also rumored to have a better camera sensor compared to its predecessor.

It is speculated that the LG G4 will be unveiled sometime in the second quarter of the year.
