Joanne Cash to Host 'Midnite Jamboree' Show

|PIC1|Joanne Cash, gospel singer and sister of the legendary Johnny Cash, will host America's second longest running radio show, Midnite Jamboree, on Saturday 3 February.

Launched in 1947 by Country Music Hall of Fame member Ernest Tubb, the show features live performances from country music greats and aspiring newcomers. With entertainers ranging from Loretta Lynn to Elvis Presley and Garth Brooks, the show has endured generations with over 3,100 consecutive broadcasts.

In other news, Joanne will release her new album Gospel at 20 February, 2007, in which she shares tales of her prolific music career and family.

The CD, which will be her first nationally distributed release, includes three previously unreleased songs in which she shares the microphone with her brother Johnny.

With twenty-six historic recordings under her belt, the acclaimed autobiography My Fears Are Gone, and continuous concert appearances and lineage to one of music's most famous families, Joanne grew up from humble beginnings in Dyess, Arkansas. It was here that some of her earliest Cash family memories took place, singing spiritual standards in the cotton fields and laying on the living room floor listening to gospel and country music - scenes that would eventually be played out in the box office smash Walk the Line.

Joanne felt a musical calling in the 1970s while working at House of Cash, Johnny's famed recording studio, office space and musical museum. She sang at the Grand Ole Opry from 1972-1976 with Jimmy Rodgers Snow's Grand Ole Gospel Time.

During that era, Joanne met her husband, Dr Harry Yates, and the
couple soon dedicated themselves to full time music ministry, travelling the country for 15 years of full time preaching and singing the gospel.

When they came off the road in 1990, the couple founded Nashville Cowboy Church, where Joanne continues to sing every Sunday. Aside from area services, Joanne hosts frequent concert engagements, such as a Tuesday night residency at the Wyndham Vacation Resort in Nashville, where she shares a variety of original and gospel/country covers, and snippets of the Cash family testimony.
