Jessa shares how Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar became great parents to their kids

Parents Jim Bob and Michelle (middle) took out their daughters and their men Derick Dillard (rightmost) and Ben Seewald (leftmost) for a 'lesson-filled' picnic to celebrate the Duggar parents' 30th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2014. TLC

Jessa Seewald definitely learned a lot of things from her parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar from "19 Kids and Counting." Now that she is going to be a parent herself soon, the reality star is reflecting on the example set by her parents since she is planning to use the same approach they had on parenthood.

The first thing that Jessa would like to impart to her child is her love of God, according to the Duggar Family Blog. She said her parents' love of God is so evident in the way their family lives, and He has served as their rock during hard times.

"They seek wisdom through His Word (the Bible) and prayer before making any big decisions. They pray for each one of us kids by name, daily. We attended church together on Sundays, and we would study the Bible together as a family most every evening. These times are a precious memory for me!" she said.

The second example that Jessa admires about her parents is how they show their love for one another. "They have been such a wonderful example to me of what a godly, Christian couple should look like! Like every couple, I know that there are times when they have disagreements, but they calmly talk through things in private — and not in front of the kids," she shared.

Because of this, Jessa and her siblings never had any insecurities wondering if their parents really love one another, or if they're at risk of getting a divorce. Her parents showed that they loved one another by doing the simplest things, whether it be going out just to get an ice cream cone together, or taking an evening walk in the park.

"As a child, I remember when Dad would come home from work and he'd sneak up behind mom to give her a kiss on the cheek! He'd always think of sweet little things to do for her like bringing home flowers, and they'd often leave special notes for each other to find," she further said. "When we take family outings, it's so adorable to see Mom and Dad still holding hands and so passionate about each other. I think it's precious how they are still so madly in love after 30-plus years of marriage. They are truly my heroes!"

Lastly, Jessa said she is very impressed with the way their parents pursued their hearts, and this is exactly what she plans on doing to Baby Seewald. Even though Jim Bob and Michelle raised a big brood of kids, they still took the time to get to know each of their kids by heart.

"Growing up, I truly felt like they knew me better than anyone else! I knew that they cared about me deeply, and they were there to see me be a success in life and pray me through any hard times I might face! It gave me great confidence as a young person to have such love and support from them," she said.
