Apple to make its own search engine?

After releasing its NFC payment feature called Apple Pay, Apple is rumored to be working on releasing its own search engine that will rival against the likes of Google, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer. The rumor was exhumed after the website Cult of Mac spotted a job advertising that details the specializations required for an unknown service.

The job summary states the requirements for an Engineering Project Manager - Apple Search, "a program manager to manage backend operations projects for a search platform supporting hundreds of millions of users." While the job posting leads to speculations that could branch out to an innumerable number of things that Apple could be working on, creating its own search engine is perhaps the most accurate one due to a number of reasons.

When Apple released its own maps application that was included in the company's iOS 6 update, it was because the iPhone maker wanted to sever the Google search engine environment that everyone was acclimatized to. While the application was considered to be one of the most abysmal ventures that Apple has participated in, it displayed the company's tenacity to break away from dependency to services created by other tech giants.

Apple has since then improved upon its services, going as far as to dig its hands into financial innovation with its Apple Pay service. With the company already garnering a boatload of financial success stemming from the release of its large screen iPhones, the company will be looking to capitalize on its increased smartphone market share by tapping into other ventures. While Apple has not publicly commented on what its plans are for the future, it is safe to assume that the company will be making additional announcements on its WDDC event, which will be taking place in June.

Currently, the company is already rumored to be working on its 12.9-inch slate dubbed the iPad Pro as well as tapping Samsung as the company's primary supplier of chips that will power Apple's upcoming iPhones, iPads and the Apple Watch.
