Black Adam could face Batman or Superman eventually, according to Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson, after making his appearance in the upcoming action film "Furious 7" is expected to star as the super powered villain Black Adam in the upcoming superhero film "Shazam." According to Johnson, "It was all agreed that the worlds are all interconnected. One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters."

Speaking to Total Film magazine, the actor stated, "I think Black Adam is going to grow into becoming an anti-hero. It's all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics. As we know, Black Adam started out as a slave. When he's given the powers, he utilized them. Then in the wake of his powers, tragedy strikes, which turns his sentiment and tone in terms of psychology."

Originally, Black Adam in the original comic book series was bestowed with powers in order to become the protector of earth. However, as the character progressed through the storylines, the tragic loss of his family puts Black Adam on a path that would end up making him one of Shazam's primary adversaries. Shazam (in other adaptations, the character is known as Captain Marvel) is the individual that succeeds Black Adam as the protector of the earth, and on more than one occasion, both characters have squared off in the DC comicbook timeline.

However, as Black Adam's character further develops, he is able to embrace the hero side of himself, and often aids the protagonists on their quest for justice. On other occasions, the character also transforms in to a powerful dictator.

"Shazam" is being slated for an Apr. 5, 2019 release, which leaves significant amount of time for additional leaks to pour in the near future. For now, the script is currently being developed by writer Darren Lemke.
