Chris Evans will return to the big screen as Steve Rogers in the upcoming sequel of the "Captain America" franchise, "Captain America: Civil War," but he won't be the only one to reprise his "Avengers" role. Scarlett Johansson will be seen as Natasha Romanov once more, as confirmed by directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
In a press event in Beijing, as quoted by Coming Soon, Anthony said, "We've been preparing for the movie since the one debuted last year, so we've been working on it for a long time now. We're very happy how it's coming along. Captain America 3 is gonna be called Captain America: Civil War and it's going to star Chris Evans. Scarlett Johansson will be back ..."
He also added the other familiar faces to grace the new film, " ... Winter Soldier will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film."
The Winter Soldier, the Captain's longtime friend-turned-foe Bucky (Sebastian Stan), will reportedly uncover his past and his real identity in "Civil War."
It has also been confirmed that Anthony Mackie will be returning to the sequel as Falcon, and Chadwick Boseman will be introduced as Black Panther. Frank Grillo, who played double agent Brock Rumlow, will be returning as Crossbones. Jeremy Renner, who is known for being Hawkeye in "Avengers," is speculated to join the film roster, and Daniel Bruhl is reported to have been cast for an unnamed role.
Interestingly, rumor has it that "Captain America: Civil War" will explore the ties between Tony Stark and Agent Peggy Carter, who, apart from being Steve Rogers' love interest in the first "Captain America" film was also a close friend of Iron Man's father, Howard Stark.
"Captain America: Civil War" is expected to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
