During the CES 2015, Asus was yet another tech company besides Lenovo, HTC, Samsung and many more that introduced its latest offering. While the company is popular for manufacturing computer-related peripherals such as motherboards and graphic cards, the company has also tapped into the lucrative smartphone industry with a wide range of mobile computing products. The company has started off 2015 with the introduction of the ZenFone 2.

The ZenFone 2 comprises of Intel's Atom Z3580 chipset, which features a 64-bit capable quad-core processor that has a base clock frequency of 2.3 GHz. While the prowess of the processing chip can easily be deduced from its compatibility with the 64-bit architecture and its CPU speed, the highlighted feature of the ZenFone 2 is that it is the first smartphone ever to sport 4 GB of RAM, which is the limit to what 32-bit operating systems can recognize.

Similar to Samsung's Galaxy lineup of smartphones, Asus managed to reduce manufacturing costs of the ZenFone 2 by incorporating a plastic exterior to the device. In addition, the company was not convinced that the 5.5-inch smartphone requires a quad HD display and instead, settled with assimilating a 1080p resolution to it.

Apart from the ZenFone 2, another one of the company's offerings that was showcased during the event was the ZenFone Zoom.

Both devices possess a rear camera with a maximum image resolution of 13 megapixels. The only difference separating the two devices is that the ZenFone Zoom has a slimmer form factor and its rear camera features a 3x optical zoom. The ZenFone Zoom's camera also has additional features such as a laser autofocus feature and an optical image stabilization chip, which are camera elements that will thoroughly improve the overall image quality.

Asus also mentioned that the ZenFone 2 will be available in March for a price of $199, which is hard to believe, considering the monstrous specifications of the device. The ZenFone Zoom will be attached with a much steeper price tag of $399 and will be available during the second quarter of this year.
