National Day of Prayer Task Force Chairman Shirley Dobson, who has served the organisation for 25 years, has now passed on the reins to Billy Graham's daughter Anne Graham Lotz, who is also the founder of AnGel Ministries.

"After much prayer and careful consideration, I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Dr. Billy Graham, has graciously accepted this new role, and will succeed me as the new chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force," said Dobson in a statement provided to Christian News.

Lotz has been lovingly described by her father as "the best preacher in the family," and Dobson is certain that Lotz will do a good job leading the task force.

In her latest book, "The Daniel Prayer: Prayer That Moves Heaven and Changes Nations," Lotz talks about the importance of prayer and why Christians from all over the world should get down on their knees and talk to God.

"For the past three years I have felt a compelling urgency to pray," Lotz says. "As a result my organisation, AnGel Ministries, has offered five worldwide prayer initiatives that have drawn tens of thousands into prayer. So when Shirley Dobson asked me to succeed her as the Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, I was highly honoured."

"I believe I'm called by God to those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:1-2)," Lotz says. "I will continue to lead AnGeL Ministries as I accept this new assignment to not only get people into God's Word, but also onto their knees in serious prayer for our nation."

While many people have already responded to her call to pray, Lotz says some of them are still missing the point of prayer.

"Have you ever felt that your prayers are anaemic?" she earlier asked on her Facebook page. "I wonder if it's because both of us are missing key ingredients such as focusing on God for who He truly is and an all-out...no-holds-barred...go-for-broke...nothing-held-back...old-fashioned desperation to get answers."
