AMD R9 395X2 price: Dual GPU solution to cost $1,499

AMD's upcoming R9 300 series will include the company's dual GPU solution, which is most likely going to be named the R9 395X2, similar to the company's previous dual GPU flagship card, the R9 295X2. The graphic processor is expected to be released during the end of 2015 and, in order to maintain its supremacy against NVIDIA, at least when it comes to the pricing of graphic cards, AMD is likely to give the dual GPU solution a retail price of $1,499. The aforementioned price tag is the same as that of the company's R9 295X2.

AMD's R9 295X2 was released in order to take on NVIDIA's Titan Z product, which boasts a whopping 12 GB on-board memory. However, the Titan Z also has a ridiculous $2,999 price tag attached to it, while AMD's offering is priced at half the amount.

Not long ago, AMD cashed in on the opportunity just as gamers were suffering from the GTX 970's memory performance issues by slashing the retail price of its current single flagship GPU, the R9 290X, to $299. Looking at the price / performance ratios after the price cut, it looks like the R9 290X presents a more resourceful option for gamers.

Meanwhile, AMD's R9 300 series is expected to be released soon, presumed to be in the second quarter of this year. At any rate, at a time when owners of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 970 are still encumbered by VRAM performance issues, it is safe to say that AMD has made a commendable strategic decision by gearing up for the 300 series' release.

The Radeon R9 395X2 is expected to be equipped with two R9 390X GPUs. A single R9 390X is armed with 4096 cores and a 4 GB video frame buffer, which is most likely to aid gamers in upcoming graphic intensive titles. Furthermore, the R9 390X will also possess a 4096 bit HBM memory design and is going to be the first ever graphic card to be released by either company to boast such as feature. The HBM memory design will result in higher memory bandwidth, which will only translate to higher gaming performance in titles that utilize a lot of video RAM.
