Donald Trump Confirms He Prays: 'It's Very Personal To Me'

Not everybody believes that U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is a true man of faith.

But the business magnate revealed recently during an EWTN interview with Raymond Arroyo that his Christianity is real and that he does believe in the power of prayer.

Trump's Christianity has long been hotly contested. The scenario worsened for the presidential hopeful when a video leaked out showing him making lewd comments about women.

During the interview, Trump showed a softer side of himself, giving up his often brash statements and choosing to display some reserve. "I want to talk personally about you," Arroyo told Trump, according to Life Site News. "When you pray, what do you pray for?"

Instead of playing up his Christian faith, Trump chose to answer, "I don't want to talk to you about that," before quickly clarifying, "I mean, I pray. It's very personal to me."

"I'm a person of belief," Trump continued. "But I certainly, you know, I pray for my family, I pray for our country, but I don't want to talk to you about that. I think it's very personal."

Seemingly satisfied with Trump's answer, Arroyo responded, "OK, it's between you and God." And Trump confirmed, "It is between me and God."

Arroyo then asked Trump if he has a favourite saint. "You are Presbyterian, so I don't want to drag you into other realms," Arroyo said. "Do you have a favourite saint?"

Trump said his personal choice would be St. Teresa of Calcutta, since she was "great." Aside from St. Teresa, Trump lauded Pope St. John Paul II because of his good mix of strength and warm-heartedness.

"Pope John Paul, I thought, was terrific," Trump said. "Because he had a special something. There was a toughness, but there was a warmth, there was a warmth that was incredible."
