The Taiwanese company Asus, which is known as the largest PC motherboard manufacturing company in the world, unveiled its Zenfone 2 during the Consumer Electronics Show that took place in January, 2015. During the event, the company showcased the world's first ever smartphone to sport 4 GB of RAM. However it appears that the latest AnTuTu benchmarking results points out that the Asus Zenfone 2 being tested carried a total amount of 2 GB of RAM.

According to GSMArena, the Asus Zenfone 2 was able to achieve a score of 50401. The score is sufficient enough to surpass the likes of the Galaxy Note 4, and the Meizu MX4, which possesses a Snapdragon 805 and a MediaTek MT6595 chipset respectively. The surprising thing about the test is that the smartphone was able to achieve the aforementioned results while housing a mere 2 GB of RAM. However, the smartphone still possesses Intel's powerful Atom Z3580 chipset, which is running a quad-core processor clocked in at 2.33 GHz.

The processor is also compatible with the 64 bit architecture but it is unclear whether or not this attribute allowed the Zenfone 2 to reach such a high score. In addition, the GPU running inside the Zenfone 2 belongs to Imagination technologies and is the PowerVR Rogue G6430. The G6000 mobile GPU series is known for its impressive performance in 3D gaming applications so it is possible that the graphics processing unit had contributed a lot to the score. However, another fact that is possible is that the Zenfone 2 being tested out actually possessed 4 GB of RAM and that Asus is stating that a 2 GB variant was being tested out instead.

The company has not yet commented on the latest benchmarking results. Perhaps when additional results are released in the future, more information will be made available concerning which phone was used in the tests.
