A report has revealed that in one year alone as many as 66 babies were born alive after abortions carried out on their mothers, before dying as a result of the procedure.
The Confidential Enquiry into Maternal and Child Health, a government agency, has launched its report detailing stillbirths and neonatal deaths in 2005.
The report indicates that in one year alone an alarmingly high number of babies were born alive after abortions. The report also does not include data relating to aborted babies who were born alive but did not die.
This report comes less than a week after the BJOG, a journal of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, published a paper indicating that live births after abortion have occurred in 18 out of 20 maternity units in the West Midlands.
"It is impossible for anybody to remain unmoved by reports that, in 2005 alone, 66 babies fought for their lives after attempts to abort them," said Julia Millington of the Alive and Kicking Campaign. "It moves the abortion debate beyond abstract arguments into the world of human reality.
"Our opponents are always quick to remind us that women need access to late abortion. But we are confident that our nation does not support the perverse mentality of those who campaign for abortion to be available 'as early as possible and as late as necessary'.
"Public support for a reduction in the upper time limit for abortion has never been greater and we urge the government to respond to calls for a review of our abortion law."

It's very sad to hear people debating abortion and saying that under such & such a time it's not really a child its only a blob of tissues & therefore it's OK to remove it from the mother. If What is being aborted isn't a baby why is it being removed. It is because it IS a baby that the abortion is done. Will there be a criminal investigation carried out to determine when these babies were murdered. Any other mother or doctor who killed a child that had been born alive would be subject to a criminal investigation. My heart goes out to all involved because when you see a live baby that you then kill would impact badly on their lives. Are we moving into an era when mothers can kill their children if they determine that the children will make their own life hard. Will there be a criminal investigation into health workers who give condoms to children and say this will allow safe sex but are not there to support them when they get pregnant or become infected with a sexually transmitted infection. How long will we allow other people to give such bad advice to our kids & therefore have them emotionally & sexually abused because of it. Parents...wake up. If we don't talk openly with our kids about sex other people will and our kids will suffer because of it. Jason Stevens ex footballer admits he made big mistakes in regard to sex and this was negative for him & the woman he slept with. He has written great books on sex. Condoms haven't slowed the abortion rate nor the STD rate. When will we have studies done on the negative impact on a young womans life when she has to kill an unborn child because she herself is still a child simply because no one told her the full truth about sex. How can we measure the effect on society when we just kill off unborn babies because its seems easier than fully educating young people about sex. Perhaps this revelation of live babies being murdered will bring about a growing awareness that abortion is about killing children.
