After reigniting their relationship in season 3, fans are looking forward to seeing what's next for Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) when "Chicago P.D." returns for season 4.

Lindsay and Halstead initially shared a secret intimate relationship but had to split up after their squad commander Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) discouraged them from keeping a personal relationship within the team. But when Voight realized that Halstead could really look after Lindsay when she underwent a downward spiral at the beginning of season 3, he finally told them that they can continue their romantic relationship as long as he can keep his eyes on her.

For season 4, executive producer Matt Olmstead told TVLine that the couple will slowly inch their way into the next level.

"We want to have them move in together and just play the baby steps of what it's like to live with someone [for] two very independent people who have always done their own thing," the executive producer revealed. "We want to start turning some cards over when it comes to that, play the wish fulfillment of it all, because the audience likes them. We like them. We want to see them together more."

Olmstead also revealed that Lindsay and Halstead's story could act as the silver lining for season 4, since their squad leader will continue his furious rage after the death of his son Justin (Josh Segarra) in the third season finale.

But while Lindsay and Halstead's relationship continues to flourish, Kim Burgess's (Marina Squerciati) love life will take a backseat next season after Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) decided to leave the squad to live a peaceful life in San Diego.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Olmstead shared that they are planning to keep Burgess out of the dating scene so she can focus on her work instead of nursing another broken heart next season.

"We're still just kicking around ideas for next season but there's certainly a pitch for a vow of celibacy for her," he said.

NBC is slated to premiere "Chicago P.D." season 4 this fall.
