Sony Xperia Z5, Z4, Z3 to get Android Marshmallow 6.0 next month?

When Google released its new Android 6.0 platform late last year, Sony Mobile was one of the many tech manufacturers that stated a prompt adoption of the new Android environment. However, outside of beta tests for some of its Xperia iterations, Sony Mobile device owners are still waiting for their Android Marshmallow update.

Rumor has it that Sony Mobile device owners will not have that long to wait as the flagship iterations will receive their Android Marshmallow update notifications by next month.

According to MobiPicker, some of the Xperia flagship lineups like the whole Xperia Z5 series was supposed to get their Android 6.0 update by late January. However, the roll-out dates for the new versions have been moved, and it is now expected that the Xperia Z5 lineup will jump to Android Marshmallow next month. Meanwhile, previous iterations of the Xperia Z-series like the Z4 and Z2 will possibly have their Android 6.0 updates released by mid-February.

Quite possibly, the next iterations to receive an update in the Android 6.0 roll-out will be the Xperia Z3 series. Although two iterations from the lineup, the base model Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact, already have their Android 6.0 firmware, these versions are just beta files, as part of the Android Concept beta program of Sony Mobile.

Meanwhile, when Sony Mobile released its list of flagships eligible for an Android 6.0 update, included in the lineup were the Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra. Sony Mobile even released an earlier statement saying that the two flagships will get Android M straight from their native Android 6.0 Lollipop. However, it seems Sony Mobile hasn't met its goals for an Android 6.0 jump. Recent reports mentioned that instead of the expected Android Marshmallow version, Sony Mobile rolled out an Android 5.1 update for the Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra.
