The fourth installation of the "Transformers" franchise called "Age of Extinction" broke box office records in 2014, earning $1.1 billion dollars worldwide. With about a year before the next movie, entitled "The Last Knight," hits the theaters, reports are surfacing online about what the sequel will be all about.

According to an exclusive report on joblo.com, it looks like "Transformers 5" will see the homecoming of franchises' lead robot, Optimus Prime.

It can be recalled that the last "Transformers" movie ended with Optimus Prime flying off to space, and sending a message to the Creators that he is coming for them. Joblo.com reported that in the upcoming movie, the robot finds his way to his home planet called Cybertron.

Optimus Prime's planet, however, is already a dead planet, and he is somehow linked to how Cybertron ended up in ruins. Because of this, the leader of the Autobots embarks on a mission to bring his home planet back to life, but to be able to do this, he has to find an artifact, according to Joblo.com.

The artifact is somehow connected to the magician in King Arthur's lore, Merlin. Joblo.com stated that the artifact Optimus Prime will be searching for may very well be King Arthur's legendary sword, the Excalibur.

HNGN.com meanwhile reported that new Transformers characters will be introduced in the upcoming movie. These new additions will reportedly include Cogman (an Astin Martin) and Squeakes (a Vespa).

According to a report from Variety.com, another significant addition to this movie franchise is Welsh actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the movie "The Silence of the Lambs." While his role in the movie franchise is still under the wraps, some fans online are already speculating that his character will have something to do with the Creators.

Hopkins will be joined by returning "Transformers" star Mark Wahlberg. The movie, to be directed once again by Michael Bay, is scheduled to be released on June 23, 2o17.
