Is there a blossoming romance between Alfred and Mary? CBS

The mega-hit comedy "The Big Bang Theory" is scheduled to return for its tenth season this fall, and fans are eagerly awaiting for the upcoming episode to know what the future holds for the show's five central characters.

Late last month, TVLine.com published a schedule of when shows aired on CBS will return, and this list showed that "The Big Bang Theory" will hit the TV screens again on September 19.

The show's loyal viewers are curious to learn what will happen to the show's main couple, geeky Sheldon Cooper and Amy Fowler. Fans are also interested about Leonard and Penny, Howard and Bernadette's parenthood, and Raj's love interest.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "The Big Bang Theory" showrunner Steve Molaro revealed that the show's tenth season may introduce new characters, particularly the parents of the central cast.

"There are things floating around that we talk about and say, 'Someday, that might happen,'" he said. "There are still a lot of characters out there in this world that we've never met that I'm still excited, over the next season and a half, to get a chance to do something about.

"We've never met Penny's mom, Leonard's dad, Sheldon's Meemaw or Howard's dad — and that's a big tentpole that's still floating out there," he added.

Molaro also said that the people behind "The Big Bang Theory" are particularly excited about what they will do for the show's 200th episode.

"It's such a weird thing! It's just a number! Do we really need to pull out all the stops and do something crazy? I don't know. I've been starting to kick around things we might be able to do if we really want to do something extra special but nothing concrete yet," Molaro said.

"The Big Bang Theory" co-creator Chuck Lorre meanwhile said that he is not sure if the show's tenth season will be its last.

"I never imagined nine [seasons] and here we are," Lorre also told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm not going to presume to know how many years this has because it's ridiculous for me to guess. It's already gone beyond my wildest dreams so anything beyond this ... as long as everybody is having a good time and we're making a show we're proud of ... then it's worth continuing."
