Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, Neo release date, specs, features: New sighting on Indian import site points to June release

A Mini version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected around June Samsung

No sooner has the Samsung Galaxy S5 been unveiled and there are reports appearing around the web of a Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini.

Last time round, with the Galaxy S4, Samsung released the S4 Mini just a couple of months later so a smaller version of the S5 was expected by smartphone watchers.

So what do we know about the S5 Mini?  Nothing concrete I'm afraid.

The report of the device came from an Indian import site by the name of Zauba, which detailed a new Samsung phone with the model number SM-G879.

While Samsung fans are pegging that model number to the anticipated S5 Mini there's no proof at this stage and the Zauba report doesn't give any technical specifications.

But one piece of evidence that supports the S5 Mini supposition, according to GalaxyClub.nl, is that it

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is expected to come with a Super AMOLED display and Android 4.4 KitKat.

Somewhat confusingly, that's not the only device to have been spotted on Zauba, as a Samsung device with model number SM-G800F has also been imported to India for research and development.

Phone Arena reports the device has come to India from South Korea for testing and is valued at 31,790 INR ($520).  It reports seven units were imported to India between March 5 and 7 and that it could be the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 was unveiled last month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and is expected to go on general release on April 11.
