The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has been given the thumbs up by critics and users alike, with all its handy and accessible multitasking capability.
But it looks like the Galaxy Note 4 is going to be bigger and even better.
The Samsung S Pen stylus will be back for all that on-the-spot note-taking but if the rumors are anything to go by, Samsung is going to be integrating the nifty little styuls into its security for the phone.
One rumor circling at the moment is that Samsung is working on handwriting recognition so that people can use their stylus scrawls to unlock their devices and access certain functions like contacts lists.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was already a pretty large 5.7 inches but the rumor with the Note 4 is that it is going to add another 0.2 or even 0.3 inches to that. So big you could almost do your ironing on it.
So for those who love space, space, space, this could be the ideal phablet for them. In the run-up to the Note 3 coming out, the question people were asking was whether that device was too big for people's pockets. If these rumors are right, the Note 4 will be an even tighter fit. But if the LG G Flex can be that big, why not the Note 4, eh?
Meanwhile, Phandroid.com wonders whether a real design shake-up is in the works over at Samsung HQ. They're basing that guestimate on comments made by Yoon Han-kil, senior VP of Samsung's product strategy team, in an interview to Reuters, in which he suggested the high-end market is in need of something a bit special to light the spark under its tail.
"Our ultimate goal is to make products that consumers really aspire to have," he told Reuters. "This is how we are trying to find a breakthrough in the stagnant premium market."
The Samsung Galaxy S5 didn't change much from the S4, notably the plastic casing which is not that popular even among Samsung fans, but Phandroid did note that the Korean company tends to jig things with their secondary products rather than their flagship devices.
In the same Reuters interview, Yoon said Samsung was planning to launch a "new form factor" Galaxy Note handset in the second half of the year.
It is expected that the announcement for the Note 4 will come around the time of the IFA technology show in Berlin in September.
Meanwhile, PCAdvisor is inferring that a Galaxy Note 4 running on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor will come with a 4K resolution display - because the Snapdragon 805 supports that resolution, otherwise known as Ultra HD.
Back in January, Bloomberg reported that the next Samsung Galaxy Note might incorporate a three-sided display allowing messages to be read from an angle.
