'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date rumors: What to expect

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is already one of the most highly anticipated titles of 2016 despite the fact that it has yet to be officially announced and the rumors are helping to give fans an idea of what the game will actually be like.

Unfortunately, rumors are all that fans have when it comes to "Red Dead Redemption 2," as official details to this point have been non-existent.

Given all the caveats that may apply with rumors, here's what "Red Dead Redemption 2" may end up being, according to various chatter and hearsay that's floated around the web.

First off, Reddit user AnonDN1978 has revealed something about the game's playable characters, The Inquisitr reported.

According to the tipster, the next "Red Dead Redemption" game will feature plenty of Seth and Irish. The two will reportedly be available as playable characters in the game, and on top of that, the sequel itself is expected to feature a variety of storylines that involve both.

Aside from Seth and Irish, players will also be able to fully customize a third character that they can use inside "Red Dead Redemption 2." The third playable character will most likely be in the mold of the unnamed protagonist that can usually be seen as the star of other role-playing games.

Other rumors have suggested where the next game might be taking place.

According to Crossmap, one of the more interesting rumors about the game's setting suggests that it could actually take place in Japan. The Japanese setting would certainly be a real change for the series, and it could make for an interesting backdrop for the game's characters.

Another rumor concerning the game's setting suggests something closer to home, and predicts that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be taking place across a variety of western states. This setting would be more similar to the one found in the original "Red Dead Redemption" game, although the entirety of the map might end up being bigger in the sequel.

More news about "Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to be made available soon.
