'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date remains unknown heading into next year

If and when "Red Dead Redemption 2" is eventually announced, it will most likely be met by cheers from all over the web, but with 2015 winding down to a close, a lack of anything official continues to put the future of the game in doubt.

In terms of anything resembling an official update regarding the game, the closest thing fans have to turn to for that was a November event that involved Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. The Take Two CEO spoke during the Partners Investor Day held in New York City and talked about the company's approach to releasing games, GameSpot reported.

When it came to Rockstar in particular, the studio behind the "Red Dead Redemption" franchise, Zelnick indicated that their games are being "spaced out" so that they will draw even more attention and buzz when they eventually arrive.

Considering that "Red Dead Redemption" was originally released back in 2010, it would seem that there is now enough space between that and any upcoming game, translating to a possible launch in the near future.

If nothing else, fans have clearly shown that they are sufficiently excited for "Red Dead Redemption 2," judging by how much attention is being thrown in the direction of tipsters who show up on Reddit.

Recently, Crossmap reported on some release date rumors shared by two Reddit users.

The first one, coming courtesy of Reddit user "Shinobi602," suggests that the game will be released this year.

The other tipster, who goes by the Reddit username of "AnonDN1978," indicated that "Red Dead Redemption 2" would be launched next year.

For now, it's unclear just how accurate the two tipsters might be and until Rockstar makes an official announcement regarding "Red Dead Redemption 2," the wait will continue.
