Reba McEntire's heartfelt prayer for America goes viral on Facebook

Country music superstar Reba McEntire offered a heartfelt prayer for America's healing to celebrate the National Day of Prayer last Thursday.

The singing legend, who has always been vocal about her faith as a Christian, shared her prayer in a post on her official Facebook page. The post has since received nearly a hundred thousand reactions and been shared by almost 30,000 people.

"Heavenly Father, I pray for peace, joy, health and wisdom for my family, friends, our nation and our leaders," McEntire's prayer opened. "I pray that you heal the heart of our enemies. Give them peace and happiness," her prayer went on.

"God bless you Reba for being a faithful Christian and brave enough to pray openly, there are so many Christians that hide from the world today," one commenter said about McEntire's post. "Thank God for Christian entertainers. I respect Reba for being who she is," another fan posted in the Facebook comments.

In 2015, McEntire released a Christian album called "Pray for Peace" and told Rolling Stone a year before it came out that she felt God's hand while she was putting the songs together.

"Pray for Peace," in particular, had been the longest song the music legend worked on as her ensemble of musicians grew and grew. She also brought a choir and several locals from her home state of Oklahoma to a village in Africa to record the music video while her old friend and longtime collaborator Ronnie Dunn also got on board to help produce the album.

A couple of years later, McEntire released another Christian album in "Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope," which received the Best Roots Gospel Album award at the 2018 Grammy Awards. In accepting the honors, McEntire said that her job as a musician is to help heal hearts. "That's what God put me on this earth for, I know it is," the singer said.
