The folks behind Popcorn Time are now introducing a new version of the streaming service that is accessible and usable from a web browser.

The new version of the service, known as Popcorn Time Online, will offer many of the same features as the original app did, along with some other tweaks that should help to improve it.

According to the official Popcorn Time blog, one way in which the new web browser version is superior to the app is in the way that it can handle just about every video format available. The new version of Popcorn Time will supposedly allow users to play and stream any kind of video with relatively little trouble.

On top of that, the folks behind the updated version of Popcorn Time also say that the streaming video users can view will be of high quality.

The team behind Popcorn Time is implementing the changes to the service along with the help of Torrents Time technology.

The Popcorn Time team also notes that the changes should allow users to stream videos directly from the website to other outlets such as Airplay, Chromecast, and DLNA.

Popcorn Time's developers are also being more careful this time around so as to avoid potential legal troubles. In pursuit of that, the team is now opting to stay anonymous.

Popcorn Time has already been shut down on numerous occasions, Tech Radar reported.

Most notably, the main website of the app, popcorntime.io, was recently seized by the Motion Pictures Association of America, leading to numerous troubles for the developers.

Time will tell if the move to web browsers will help sustain Popcorn Time, or if it's merely prolonging the downward spiral for the service.

More news about Popcorn Time and its new web browser-based offering should be made available in the future.
