A new and addictive Pokémon game has been released for the Android and iOS platforms. Called the "Magikarp Jump," the free-to-play app features the least-loved Pokémon character and it might not be what one would regularly expect from the popular series.

The "Magikarp Jump," however, is becoming an addiction for some gamers, according to Mirror. Below are some best tips and tricks to mastering the app's gameplay.

Like all other games in the Pokémon series, the goal of "Magikarp Jump" is to catch and train monsters so that they become strong enough to fight other monsters. The catch is that the Magikarp has the weakest and most useless fighting skills among all Pokémon. They are, however, expert high jumpers. The gamer's goal, therefore, is to train and improve the monsters at this skill.

Jump power (JP) training involves earning training points (TP). A gamer must first fill up the Magikarp's pond with food and decorations to earn these points, as well as bonuses and effects. Gamers may also catch other types of Pokémon to boost Magikarp's support system, which could affect JP and TP points as well.

With enough training points, gamers can go on training exercises with their Magikarps. This happens at random and involves a time element as TPs need to be refreshed. Gamers can also compete to collect coins. The coins can either be used to purchase JP or TP points or for improvements to the pond, as per Pocket-Lint.

How many Magikarps the gamer raised will determine the success of the game and this is where the real challenge lies because they have the most fragile life in Pokémon. Aside from raising and training Magikarps, gamers will also have to watch out for Pigeottos preying on these monsters.

While not considered as good as "Pokémon Go," the "Magikarp Jump" is a fun mobile game for anyone looking to try something new. It's available on Android and iOS.
