PlayStation 5 rumors: Will the console be announced in 2016?

Will 2016 be the year Sony introduces the PlayStation 5 to the world?

That's the question on the minds of many gamers, and unfortunately, there's little to indicate that 2016 will indeed bring about more news about the rumored console.

As PlayStation Head of Software Product Development Scott Rohde indicated back in 2013, Sony has usually laid the groundwork for the creation of their next generation console even just a few years into the release of their current offering, Value Walk reported.

If that is the case, then that would mean that Sony is likely developing the console already, although the company has certainly done its part to throw people off that trail.

Sony has remained silent when it comes to the topic of the PlayStation 5, and the most the company has offered in terms of details regarding the new console have been general statements about how it will deliver the kind of gaming experience that people are looking for.

Another possible reason for why Sony has chosen to remain quiet about the topic of the PlayStation 5 is because they want to shift the focus more toward the PlayStation VR.

The new virtual reality headset is expected to be released sometime this year, and it would probably benefit Sony to have more consumers focus more on that already scheduled release as opposed to another item that has yet to even be announced.

Still, people are wondering what the PlayStation 5 might be like, and according to N4BB, it could be quite the powerhouse. The rumored console will reportedly feature top of the line 4K graphics upon being released, although this remains unconfirmed.

It's also very likely that the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation VR will work together.

Even without any official news, fans will continue to wait for the potential announcement of the PlayStation 5 in 2016.
