Nexus 10 2 Release Date Rumors: New handset may launch in Q3 of 2014, made by HTC

So what's the latest on the Nexus 10 2.  It's a little unclear as a new report suggests HTC is going to manufacture a "high end" Google Nexus tablet for release later this year.

What's not clear about this report is whether it is talking about the Nexus 10 2 or whether this is in fact an entirely different device in the pipeline.

All the report from Focus Taiwan states is that the Taiwanese company has won the bid to create the "high end" tablet and that it is set to arrive in Q3 2014.

IB Times has previously predicted that the Nexus 10 2 will be in people's hands as early as June 2014.  The Google I/O Developer Conference takes place in San Francisco from June 25 to 26 so it's very possible the Nexus 10 2 could make its debut there.

The 10.1 inch tablet is predicted to have a 2K screen with 2560x1600 pixel display powered by 3GB RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor or possibly the NVIDIA Tegra 4.  It may also run on the Android 4.5 Lollipop OS.

These specs are pretty nice and could be a real boon to HTC's stake in the tablet market after its flop with the HTC Flyer.

However, other rumors circulating suggest that Nexus is prioritising the Nexus 8 and not the 10 2.

The release for the Nexus 8 is expected to be July and the device is likely to run on Vanilla Android 4.5 with Intel 'Moorefield' mobile chips.

The device replaces the Nexus 7 but the latest rumors overlay previous reports that the Nexus 8 was going to come out in late April.
