Microtransactions and paid downloadable content (DLC) have become part and parcel of the modern gamer's experience, but at least one gaming executive believes that should not be the case.
In an interview with Vice, the creative director of the new "Need for Speed" game, Craig Sullivan, stated that players "deserve" to receive free DLC.
According to Sullivan, fans are not clamoring for any microtransactions or paid DLC, and that's why they have no current plans to feature any either in the new "Need for Speed" game. Sullivan also indicated that the plan to feature no microtransactions or paid DLC for the new game is not something they plan to just stick to for a few months, and instead, he says that the free DLC plan is the one that Ghost Games wants to implement for the new title moving forward.
It is worth noting that while Sullivan plainly said that there are no current plans to feature any form of paid content to the game, he also copped to the notion that he cannot say with absolute certainty that the free DLC plan will remain in place moving forward.
Sullivan also pointed out that at least for now, Ghost Games does not even have a way to charge players for any paid content.
As of now, it's still unclear what exactly Ghost Games has in store in terms of free content that will be coming to the new "Need for Speed" game. According to Gamespot, it is highly likely that the game's developer may opt to provide new cars as free DLC.
Even though there are currently no plans to feature paid content for the game, there is a deluxe edition of the new "Need for Speed" game, according to PC Advisor UK.
The deluxe edition includes a performance pack, a VIP icon and a bunch of other items that can be used in the game itself.
