The Moto X 2016 still largely exists only in rumors, but recently, emerging images may be hinting not only at the existence of the device, but also at what some of its features might be.

The new images of the Moto X 2016 come courtesy of hellomotoHK.

Upon looking at the images, people will be able to see an array of Lenovo prototypes that feature the familiar Moto branding.

It's believed that the new prototypes seen in the images will be slightly different than their predecessors.

One way in which the new phones might be different is related to their thickness. As of now, it's believed that the Moto X 2016 will be noticeably thinner than its predecessors.

The images also show a Moto X 2016 that is sporting a larger camera port than the ones that have been previously seen in earlier devices from the phone line.

According to Know Your Mobile, the larger camera port may mean that the new phone will feature enhanced imaging capabilities, although this remains more rumor than fact for now.

As for the specs and features of the Moto X 2016, the new phone is expected to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset along with 3 GB of RAM.

The new phone is also expected to be running the Android Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.

Unfortunately, no release date has currently been announced for the Moto X 2016, and even analysts are having a tough time predicting when it might come out.

As Android Pit pointed out, the devices from the Moto X series have not followed a strict release pattern, making it difficult to pinpoint any possible launch date. Still, with so few details available at the moment, it's likely that the new phone might not be launched for a while.

More news about the Moto X 2016 should be made available as more official details about the phone begin to surface.
