Buzz is continuing to build around Microsoft's plans to supposedly release a new Surface Phone, and there may even be a launch date for the rumored device.

According to the Express UK, Microsoft's Surface team is now hard at work creating a new phone that could be released by the middle of next year. The mid-2016 launch date appears to have some significance as well, as Microsoft is also expected to release a major Windows 10 update by that time.

Given that Microsoft has not actually confirmed the existence of the Surface Phone, let alone its release date, other rumors currently suggest a later timeline for the device's debut.

According to Yibada, the Surface Phone may be a fall arrival, likely sometime around October, although this is unconfirmed as well.

Still, even if the Surface Phone remains unofficial, the amount of chatter surrounding it points to it likely being a real Microsoft project.

Aside from hearsay about a possible release date for the Surface Phone, rumors have also begun to create an idea of what the new device could be like upon being launched.

For instance, rumors now suggest that Intel will be heavily involved in the creation of the new device.

According to Digital Trends, the Surface Phone is currently rumored to feature Intel's Atom x3 processor.

In terms of memory offerings, Microsoft's rumored device is also expected to have 4 GB of RAM along with 64 GB and 128 GB options in terms of internal storage capacities. The new phone is also rumored to feature microSD card support.

Microsoft's Surface Phone could also end up having a 21-megapixel rear camera along with one up front that provides eight megapixels.

The Surface Phone is also rumored to have a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen.

More news about the Surface Phone is expected to be made available soon.
