Fans who may have feared the worst for the fate of "Metal Gear Online" will be glad to know that more downloadable content (DLC) is currently planned to be released for the game.

News of the new DLC coming to "Metal Gear Online" comes via the game's official Twitter account.

Players will reportedly be able to look forward to new content coming to the game in the form of additional maps as well as improvements possibly being made to Survival mode.

As of now, that's all that's been officially announced in terms of new DLC plans for "Metal Gear Online," although the tweet did indicate that more news should be coming in the near future, so fans will be able to look forward to that.

News that new DLC is still in the works for "Metal Gear Online" should provide a measure of comfort to fans who may have thought that the game could be abandoned in the wake of Konami and Hideo Kojima's split. The good news is that even though the departure of Kojima may have brought some uncertainty, future plans for the game still appear to be intact, as IGN pointed out.

Still, there are some players who are not quite happy with what's going on with the "Metal Gear" franchise, specifically those who prefer to play using the personal computer (PC).

Noticeably absent from the recent announcement regarding the future DLC coming to "Metal Gear Online" are more details about the Steam version of the game, according to iDigital Times.

There was a belief that the Steam port of "Metal Gear Online" could be released sometime in January 2016, although the lack of any official confirmation does not bode well for the fate of the game.

Fans can only hope that "Metal Gear Online" for Steam is not dead yet, and that it will be arriving sooner rather than later.
