The immensely popular "League of Legends" is set to receive an array of big changes in the near future.

First off, the game's champ select system will be retooled. When the updates are implemented, players will now have to select two different positions so that queue times can be drastically reduced. Players will also only be able to select characters one at a time with the arrival of the update, and the bans and picks system will also be overhauled, Polygon reported.

Players will also have new options to choose from in terms of how they can develop their characters inside "League of Legends." New "high-impact" options are going to be made available, and these are expected to help maximize the development of characters inside the game. With players given the freedom to pinpoint exactly what abilities they want to enhance the most, they can presumably create the ideal version of the character that they want.

Some of the characters inside of "League of Legends" themselves will be affected by the upcoming updates.

More specifically, the AD Carry position characters will be tweaked just a bit so that they will soon feature skills and abilities that will fit in better with team play.

There will also be a good amount of free items that "League of Legends" players will be receiving via the upcoming updates.

For instance, players can now nab some new champions and skins without them having to use any of their IP or RP, according to Gamespot.

Players can get their hands on these free champions and skins by obtaining mastery chests and keys that will be used to unlock them. The mastery chests and keys will be distributed to players who will be lining up for games with their friends.

Other parts of "League of Legends" such as matchmaking and even the game's client itself are also set to be updated by the time the new changes arrive in 2016.
