Katy Perry swoons over Christian rocker Cade Foehner after landing in 'American Idol' Top 5

Aspiring singer Cade Foehner has a big fan in "American Idol" judge and pop star Katy Perry. She could not help but swoon over the Christian rocker from Texas as he landed on the show's Top 5 this week.

Perry remarked that something comes over her whenever Foehner performs on stage. She no longer felt the need to hide her big crush on the Christian singer, even as her own mother sat in the audience.

"I know that you're a man of God but honestly I was feeling a little backslidden watching over you," the 33-year-old Perry told Foehner. She teased, "I could be your babysitter."

Then Perry turned to her mother, Mary Hudson, and asked if she was ok. The "Dark Horse" singer joked, "My mom's praying in tongues right now."

Perry's mom has been a minister for over 35 years along with husband, Keith. The Hudsons also wrote a Christian parenting book about raising a child amid the influences of pop culture.

Foehner sealed his spot in "American Idol" Top 5 after singing the classic Prince song, "Jungle Love" and Jewel's "Who Will Save My Soul" from the year he was born (1996). Perry once again put her mother in the spotlight by telling Foehner that Hudson is actually obsessed with the young minister.

Aside from Foehner, three other Christian singers made the cut in the latest round of "American Idol" eliminations: Gabby Barrett, Caleb Hutchinson and Michael J. Woodard.

Barrett had a great moment with mentor Nick Jonas as they discussed religion aside from music and singing. Jonas also told "American Idol" viewers that Barrett's rendition of "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack meant something to him because it is the favorite song of his father, a minister who is battling cancer.

The remaining contestants will head to Nashville next as Carrie Underwood will serve as their mentor. The show airs Sunday and Monday nights on ABC.
