Jeremy Lin news 2015: Could guard's stay in Charlotte Hornets be temporary?

Jeremy Lin's start to the 2015–16 National Basketball Association (NBA) season is evoking some semblance of his "Linsanity" era eruptions, and yet the rumor mill continues to suggest that the guard is headed elsewhere soon.

According to Vine Report, one of the most persistent rumors surrounding Lin suggests that the guard could be dealt to the Golden State Warriors.

On the surface, a trade seems unlikely, especially given how well Lin has played and contributed to a revamped Hornets backcourt and how efficiently the Warriors have dispatched other teams. The Hornets trading Lin would seem to be unlikely given the franchise's desire to make the postseason, while the Warriors are not prime candidates to shake up their roster given how well their players have meshed thus far.

Still, if Lin does not depart the Hornets via trade, there is a belief that the guard may eventually leave the team through free agency.

Lin's two-year $4.4 million deal with the Hornets comes with a player option that would enable him to re-enter free agency by next summer, according to Vice Sports. Given how many NBA analysts believe that Lin signed for under market value and how the salary cap is set to shoot up for next summer, it would be a genuinely surprising move for the 27-year-old guard not to opt out of his current deal and pursue more money on his next deal.

As of now, though, it would seem that Lin has found a home in Charlotte.

Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford said he believes Lin will eventually capture a starting point guard job in the NBA. For now, Lin is coming off the bench for the Hornets, even though he is still playing right around 29 minutes per contest.

Lin may have found a comfort zone in Charlotte for now, but time will tell if the guard will stay with the team.
