iPad Mini 5 release date: Thinner version of Apple's mini-tablet to be released in two months?

iPad Mini 4, the current model available Apple

Technology enthusiasts are already very excited about Apple's new flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7, which is expected to be released in two months' time. With the same level of anticipation, fans are also looking forward to the release of the iPad Mini 5, the next generation of Apple's mini-tablets.

Because of its predecessors' success, many are already asking when the iPad Mini 5 will be available in the market. While Apple has not yet given an official release date for its next mini-tablet, PC Advisor has deduced when techies may get their hands on the iPad Mini 5 based on the schedule of the launch of similar gadgets in the past.

According to the technology website, the iPad Mini 5 is likely to be released this coming September. This is based on the fact that the gadget's predecessor, the Apple Mini 4, was unveiled also in September last year, together with the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6 Plus.

It remains to be seen, however, if the iPad Mini 5 will be released with the iPhone 7. Some rumours are already circulating online that this might be the case.

As for the iPad Mini 5's specifications, Neuro Gadget reported that the upcoming mini-tablet will be thinner compared to its immediate predecessor. The website reported that the iPad Mini will only be 5 millimetres thick, which means that it will be 1.1mm thinner than the iPad Mini 4.

If the iPad Mini 5 will indeed be thinner, it will be at par with its competitor, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2 tablet, which is only 5.6mm thick.

Although the reported reduction of the iPad Mini 5's thickness will be welcome news for some fans because it will surely mean increased portability, there might be some trade-offs, particularly in the upcoming gadget's battery life, since the battery size will have to be reduced if the tablet's body will indeed be thinner.
